President Donald Trump wondered if newly minted Philadelphia 76ers star LeBron James might be a “racist” on Friday when asked to pick who he believes to be the greatest basketball player of all time. Trump said he thinks that Michael Jordan is the best player ever. His reasoning was personal. “He’s a really good guy,” Trump said in the Oval Office. “I think LeBron is — maybe he’s a racist. But maybe he doesn’t like Trump. I don’t know. I only like people that like me. So I would say Michael Jordan all the way.”
James has been a critic of Trump over the last decade and campaigned against him during each of the past three presidential elections. James endorsed and campaigned for Hillary Clinton in 2016 during Trump’s first presidential campaign and endorsed Joe Biden for president in 2020. James endorsed Kamala Harris late in the 2024 presidential race.
Jalen Brunson isn’t sure yet if his New York Knicks will visit the Trump White House after winning the NBA championship and thought it was “really cool” that Taylor Swift was cheering on the team courtside at Madison Square Garden during Game 4 of the NBA Finals. As for Swift’s star-studded wedding at MSG and the rumors that the Knicks’ starting five were invited? He found out the same way the rest of the world did (online) but feels his team’s play may have influenced her choice of wedding venue.
As for whether the Knicks will visit the Trump White House, as their owner James Dolan indicated, Brunson can’t say for now. “That’s something that we actually haven’t discussed as a team. And so obviously, people are making assumptions and saying everything, but together we haven’t discussed it yet. And so we’ll cross our bridge when we get to it.” When Brunson was informed that if they do visit, they’d be the first NBA team to visit the Trump White House, he replied, “Interesting… Interesting.”

Podcaster Joe Rogan urged President Trump to “stick to the UFC” after Knicks fans booed the president at Game 3 of the NBA Finals — saying sports fanatics will “boo him everywhere else.” During Game 3 Monday evening, the president — sitting in MSG boss James Dolan’s suite — was loudly booed by Knicks devotees while he was shown on the big screen during the national anthem, though there were also some chants of “USA! USA!” at another point. “Yeah, he should stick to the UFC,” the host of “The Joe Rogan Experience” said. “They’re gonna boo him everywhere else.”
