LaVine has healed from right foot surgery, overcoming an injury that plagued him throughout last season before limiting him to 25 contests. Karnišovas, a former Seton Hall standout and Lithuanian national team member, expressed empathy for LaVine’s trying season, saying much of LaVine’s early struggles last season stemmed from an injured foot he did everything he could to play through. “Not being healthy and not being able to perform I think was very frustrating,” Karnišovas said. “And I think now he feels 100 percent.”

Former Knicks player and longtime college coach Louis Orr passed away on Thursday at the age of 64, his family announced on Friday. He was battling pancreatic cancer. Orr played for the Knicks from 1982-88 and later coached at Seton Hall, Bowling Green and Siena. He also served as an assistant coach alongside Patrick Ewing at Georgetown from 2017-22. …Ryan Arcidiacono appeared late in the fourth quarter. It was his first action since Nov. 29.

On top of that, sources have told The Athletic that Kadary Richmond is closer to 6-foot-7 now than the 6-foot-5 he was listed at when he was with Syracuse. The big concern with Richmond is the jumper, but his disruptiveness on defense and ball skills give him a pretty high floor. Seton Hall is another team I think the polls are drastically underrating in the preseason. The Pirates didn’t get a single top-25 vote in the preseason despite a team loaded with older perimeter players such as Jared Rhoden, Bryce Aiken, Jamir Harris and Myles Cale. With Richmond around as well, they have every opportunity to be the second-best team in the Big East behind Villanova.

There’s one Knicks 15-man roster spot up for grabs, but it may not be decided on the court in the preseason finale Friday against the Cavaliers. One of these players, Omari Spellman, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Ignas Brazdeikis won’t make the final roster. Guard Myles Powell, the undrafted Seton Hall star, is probably earmarked for the G-League bubble in Atlanta that could start around Jan. 10, according to sources.
