A Greenville native and NBA star is back home to receive a special honor. Nic Claxton, a former student and basketball player at Legacy Early College, will have his jersey retired on Monday inside the Parker Gymnasium.

In general, the best teams were featured in the T10 more often than the worst ones. But it’s noteworthy that the Charlotte Hornets (-9.1 Net Rating) can produce as many T10-worthy plays as the Oklahoma City Thunder (+12.7 Net Rating). The Hornets might not be good, but at least they’re fun. Call it LaMelo Ball’s Funhouse of Highlights. The Los Angeles Lakers were featured in the T10 more than any other team last season. I know I said star power and market size don’t dictate what makes the T10, but the Well, But LeBron Exception applies here. The Brooklyn Nets finished last season with just 18 appearances in the T10. But if you count all the times that Ziaire Williams and Nic Claxton were on the wrong end of a T10 poster dunk then their total would go up.

Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas made headlines earlier this week, dropping an F-bomb on the Ringer's Zach Lowe and the narrative that he is a ball hog. Lowe responded to Thomas' clapback on the latest episode of his podcast. “If Cam Thomas had listened to the subsequent 12 minutes — I don't think he did, but I don't know — he would have heard me deep dive into his game and talk about career-high in assists, certain kind of passes he's gotten meaningfully better at. Nic Claxton lobs, little dump-offs, and stuff like that,” Lowe said. “I have said consistently for two years about Cam Thomas: the guy can straight up get buckets, and there is a place for him in the NBA. To me, that place is most likely a sixth-man, scoring burst guy, which is what I said in that 12-minute segment. Nekias Duncan on that segment went and got numbers about how good the Cam Thomas–Claxton pick-and-roll was. And then I talked about how a lot of Cam’s passes are like, ‘I’m-in-jail, last-resort’ passes.

“Restricted free agency sucks, first of all. It sucks that all these guys are stuck in this purgatory,” Lowe said later about Thomas' situation. “It would be the greatest triumph the players' union could ever have to eliminate restricted free agency. It would take such a give back somewhere else that I don't know if they'll ever be able to do it.”

Tim Connelly just can never ever get KD interested. He tried several times in Denver to lure the DMV native and could never get traction. Minnesota makes the most sense for both teams. League sources have said the Nets were brought in as a potential third-team in a deal construct, which would have helped move money and contracts to help both teams reshape their rosters. (No idea what they were getting or sending, but I would speculatively bet Nic Claxton to Phoenix was part of those talks.)

Brown, who represents several NBA stars, including Hawks players Trae Young and Caris LeVert, is being considered for a top executive role in Atlanta’s front office, sources told RG. His client list includes Donovan Mitchell, Jaren Jackson Jr., OG Anunoby, Myles Turner, Jordan Poole, D’Angelo Russell, Nic Claxton, and Payton Pritchard.

Nic Claxton said his back issues persisted the entire season, but should not need any procedure this summer. “Yeah I still need to get right. It’s still bothering me honestly. But we got the whole offseason. I was still able to play 70 games, so that’s a blessing,” Claxton said. “So, I have time to lock in on it this summer. “I’m going to get it right. I’ve got a plan. No surgeries or anything though.”

Michael Scotto: Nic Claxton on his back: “I still need to get right. It’s still bothering me. We’ve got the whole offseason. I was still able to play 70 games. That’s a blessing being able to do that 3 years in a row. I don’t take it for granted.” Claxton said he doesn’t expect to need surgery.

Bobby Manning: Mazzulla, talking about the 3s the #Celtics gave up on SAT, said you aren't always trying to 'prevent' the three. It's matter of matchups and knowing personnel. He's expecting a different #Nets team tonight with Claxton active.

NBA Communications: Other nominees... West: Luguentz Dort (OKC), Kris Dunn and Ivica Zubac (LAC), Jaren Jackson Jr. (MEM) and Amen Thompson (HOU) East: Nic Claxton (BKN), Dyson Daniels (ATL), Isaiah Stewart and Ausar Thompson (DET), and Myles Turner (IND)
