NBA Communications: South Bay Lakers guard Shaquille Harrison has been named the 2023-24 Kia NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year. He earned the honor in a vote by the league’s 31 head coaches and general managers. Harrison led the G League in steals per game (2.9) and total steals (99) while averaging 15.1 points and 6.5 assists. This is the second Kia NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year for Harrison and second for a member of the South Bay Lakers (Stephane Lasme, 2007-08). He previously earned the honor in 2021-22 with the Delaware Blue Coats. Rio Grande Valley Vipers guard Trhae Mitchell and Maine Celtics center Kylor Kelley finished second and third in voting, respectively.
