The KD 17s, Book 1s, and Sabrina 2s were the next most popular models, which means two of the top four signature athletes (Kobe and Sabrina Ionescu) currently don't play in the NBA, and the other two (Kevin Durant and Devin Booker) were both on the Phoenix Suns last season. After Sabrina, there is a dropoff to LeBron James, who has released dozens of signature models over his 20-year career, and James Harden’s out-of-this-world designs. Harden (adidas) is the first non-Nike athlete on the list, which might tell you something about Nike’s continued dominance in the basketball shoe market.
Jalen Williams: Kawhi Leonard had a bad night, I think there's like a clip where Lu (Dort) like didn't even let him get a shot off at the end. So we beat the Clippers. Kawhi had a horrible game. I did a good job guarding him. So, I'm juiced. But we play them back to back. He started the game out nine for nine on me. We go back to the huddle. Mark (Daigneault) is like, this is funny. Mark, everybody don't know but Mark says slick stuff. He's like, "He's busting your ass, Jalen. We need to switch." I looked at him and I was like, "Yeah.” So, Kawhi had nine for nine, then Lu on him, and Kawhi ended up like having 30 something. Klay Thompson, I was playing defense on him a whole night. He hit one from behind the backboard and as it's going in, he slapped me on my butt and said “Good try, rookie”. Kevin Durant hadn't played in OKC in a little bit and he came back to OKC and he was wildin’. Fans chirping at him and KD is like talking back. He’s talking to the fans while he bumping me, shooting over me and stuff. It was horrible, bro. Those are the three like welcome to the NBA moments.
Where do you rank Melo’s role with USA Basketball in relation to the role that all the other great players and you and your staff played with the program’s success? Boeheim: “He was such a good scorer that if he started or came off the bench, it didn’t matter. He came off the bench and made 10 or 11 threes in one game. He’s a great international player. Kevin Durant and Carmelo are two of the best international players because they are big and they can shoot the 3. Those guys are hard to defend. That’s why they are two of the leading scorers in Olympic basketball history. They could make 3s and get to the basket and do stuff there.
Eddie Johnson: And I will go on record and say you would have been in the continental basketball association and not in the NBA in the 80’s. . KD would have been Amazing in the 80’s, but you have zero clue how good Larry Bird was. ZERO!
Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick and Los Angeles Clippers coach Ty Lue are on the same wavelength when it comes to Bradley Beal’s time with the Phoenix Suns. In an interview on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Lue believes the new Clippers guard was overshadowed playing alongside Devin Booker and Kevin Durant in Phoenix. “When you play for a team like Phoenix like he did the last couple of years, you got Booker and KD and you’re the third option,” Lue said. “People like, 'oh he didn’t.' He averaged 18 points, shot 50% from the field and 43% from 3.”

“Those are unbelievable stats,” Lue continued about Beal. “But when you’re playing with KD and Book, it kind of gets overshadowed. I think by coming here, I think it’s a fresh start and I think he’s going to be great for us.”
Jorge Sierra: Most seasons leading the NBA in field goal attempts without leading in scoring Kobe Bryant: 3 Allen Iverson: 3 Most seasons leading in scoring without leading in FGA Kevin Durant: 3
Tyrese Haliburton: I've had calf strains before, and I met with the doctor. He said, "In the regular season, I would tell you to sit two to three weeks, but it's the Finals. And I'm like, "What the [ __ ]? You think I’m going to sit down?" I'm not going to say who, but I had some close friends, family, and mentors in my life call me after Game 5 and say: "Hey, shut it down." Interviewer: Do you wish you would have taken that advice? Tyrese Haliburton: No. Hell no. Hell no. I’ll be honest—I called KD after I got my MRI after Game 5. I said, "Bro, do you regret playing in the game you tore [your Achilles]?" He said, "No, not at all." He said, "You never—" I was like, "Alright." Yeah, I wasn’t going to switch anyway, so I’m glad he said that. It made me feel a little bit better. But no, I don’t regret it, bro.
Rafael Stone on the Kevin Durant trade: I definitely didn’t celebrate. It was long. Like, we understood what they wanted to get for Kevin, and it just didn’t make sense for our team—starting, I don’t know, a year ago. So, there were all these conversations, and it was a very, very long process. I think from my perspective—obviously, we did the trade. We're really happy with it. I’ve gotten to know Kevin a little bit, and I’m really happy with him as a person. But the flip side of that is—Dillon and Jaylen were just awesome. As people and as co-workers, they were amazing. We were the number two seed last year, on a very, very, very young team. And I thought we played Golden State really tough.
The Rockets and Durant have had discussions about a new contract and there is belief they will come to terms, sources said, but they've yet to come to an agreement. Durant, like James, is no longer viewed as a centerpiece, as Houston builds around a young core of players it acquired through the draft.

Kevin Durant: Mike would tell u ima 3 level scorer
Trash list.
— AirJordans23 (@AirJordans2323) August 19, 2025
Michael Jordan easily clears @KDTrey5 as a true 3-level scorer.
MJ is THE greatest post-up guard and midrange scorer in @NBA history.
Only @KobeBryant comes close.
KD has never faced handchecking or a closed lane with camping bigs.pic.twitter.com/yiInJOuixn https://t.co/Qo1h3hgj48
Kevin Durant: Mj is one of one. Rare air that can’t be touched but I’ve made those same shots for over a decade lol
Not these shots, holmes.

Jumpshots? Sure.
You're the best shooting forward since Larry Bird.
Layup package?
You don't have the hangtime and midair body control to finish at the rim through traffic like Michael Jordan...but hey, nobody does.pic.twitter.com/f9lg0NxUhZ
Kevin Durant is extension eligible with Houston and will be all the way through June 30, because he’s on an expiring contract. That means that at any point this year, the Rockets and Durant can agree to a contract extension. Because extensions are added to what is left on a current deal, Durant is functionally limited to a two-year extension. That will avoid any Over-38 rule complications. Here’s what a two-year maximum extension projects to look like for Durant: 2025-26: $54,708,609 (final season of current contract) 2026-27: $57,915,200 2027-28: $62,548,416 Total: three years, $175,172,225 Total extension: two years, $120,463,616
Alperen Şengün: I was sad when he left. He was like my brother. I was sad when I got the news. I was very sad—but at the same time, Kevin Durant is coming. Still, Jalen was my brother. I called Jalen right away and told him how I felt: "I hope this trade motivates you even more." Because I believe Jalen is going to be a really great player. Sometimes he battles with himself, but I think he won’t do that anymore and will mature even more in his game. I truly believe he’s going to be a big player. I wish him all the best. We’re still talking, and I’ll bring him to Turkey too.
