Jorge Sierra: LeBron James tied Hassan Whiteside in blocks yesterday for No. 74 all-time. A reminder that Whiteside led the NBA in swats twice. Also: Devin Booker (age 28) moved ahead of Pete Maravich in scoring. He's No. 128 in NBA history now.
Dwyane Wade: They wanted to go after Kevin Durant. We had Hassan Whiteside, a player that came out of the G League, had a great year, and was up for $100 million. I’m sitting here like, I want young fella to get his money… but y’all about to pay him over me? Take care of me first. Then, let’s take care of young fella. Because I’ve shown it. I’ve proven it. This is proven. And they didn’t do it. They didn’t get Kevin Durant, either.
Retired NBA star Hassan Whiteside has listed his waterfront Miami Beach mansion for $19.5 million, Gimme Shelter has learned. Highlights of the gated estate include a garden entry with a koi pond, an aquarium inside the chef’s kitchen, an outdoor pool and a private dock — on 85 feet of water frontage. The five-bedroom, 6½-bathroom home at 528 Lakeview Court was built in 2014. Whiteside paid $7.3 million for the property just two years later, in 2016, according to records.

Hassan Whiteside: “One of the best memories I have from my time in Miami was meeting guys like D-Wade, Chris Bosh, and Udonis Haslem. When I first got to the Heat, I was getting suspended, getting into fights, and Bosh was always in my ear, telling me, ‘Hassan, you worked all this time to get here. Why are you throwing it away?’ He was one of the people who really helped me get my head straight.”
Hassan Whiteside: “Pat Riley personally came out on the court and worked me out. It was the hardest workout of my life, still to this day. He had on a suit, hair slicked back, collar shirt. I’m in there, breathing like I’m about to black out before I stop this workout. It was not skill; it was just full court dunks. He was like, ‘Lick your hand and touch as high as you can on the backboard.’ I must’ve done at least 120-something dunks. Pat Riley knows talent. He wanted to see if he could break me, see how mentally tough I was.”
Hassan Whiteside: Letter to my little Brother Xaveyon Isaiah Whiteside..... I know you always joked on me about not posting enough, but this one will be the hardest I ever had to do. Losing you on Easter Sunday makes me think of the times I showed you how an Easter egg hunt works. When you started walking at 2 years old, I was 13. All you wanted to do was eat the candy and put the egg back while Mom was working 16-hour shifts. I learned how to change your diaper and give you a bottle as a baby. I watched you grow up into a man, from graduating high school to getting your first job. I remember you coming to my first NBA game against the Hornets. I missed your phone calls, Lil bro. We spoke weekly and how we used to play duos on Call of Duty. Every time I close my eyes, I can remember our last conversation of you laughing, saying how you think you can beat me one on one after my shoulder surgery. I couldn’t speak at the funeral. I think that’s when reality set in for me... From carrying you as a baby to carrying your ashes in a cold vase. The pain was unbearable. That’s when my reality set in. I tried my best to always protect you for the 23 years you were here. I would give anything to have that one-on-one game with you. People ask me if I’m okay. I will never be okay. I just have to stay strong for Mom and the rest of the family. And we will get that game, Lil bro, in the next life. I love you King.
Although Deandre Ayton's play has spiked for the better in the past month, his first months in Portland were defined by tardiness and tantrums according to team sources. And there has been an eerie resemblance to Hassan Whiteside, the former Blazers’ center whose statistics looked nice, but had little to no impact on a game. The quicker the Blazers can move off Ayton, the sooner I will believe this franchise is headed in the right direction.

Jorge Sierra: Kevin Durant passed Hassan Whiteside in blocks and Dominique Wilkins in rebounds last night. Just so you know.
According to Omri Manhime, Hapoel Tel Aviv is considering 3 players for the starting center spot, including former NBA Hassan Whiteside. The 34-year-old big man produced excellent numbers in BSN with the Piratas de Quebradillas: 22.1 points, 13.4 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in 30 minutes per game. The other two players on the Israeli club’s notebook are Kyle Alexander and Jasiel Rivero.
Given my lifelong fascination with basketball abroad, this was a development I couldn’t resist highlighting: Puerto Rican teams are increasingly luring former NBA players there to continue their careers. I checked in with the foremost expert on tracking such things — HoopsHype's Alberto de Roa — and promptly learned he has a working list of 20 players with NBA experience who have signed to play in Puerto Rico this season. The most recognizable names among them: Earl Clark, Norris Cole, Ed Davis, Tyreke Evans, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Brandon Knight, Greg Monroe, Eric Paschall, Elfrid Payton and Hassan Whiteside.
