The WNBA is investigating allegations of “racial comments” directed toward Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese during the Sky’s 93-58 loss to the Indiana Fever in Indianapolis on Saturday. A report was filed with the league in response to racist remarks directed at the Sky team, specifically Reese, during Saturday’s game, league sources told Front Office Sports. League sources also stated meetings with both teams and WNBA officials are ongoing.
The WNBA is investigating allegations of hateful comments made from the stands during Saturday’s season opener between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever, the league said in a statement Sunday. “The WNBA strongly condemns racism, hate and discrimination in all forms — they have no place in our league or in society,” the league said. “We are aware of the allegations and are looking into the matter.”
The statement was in response to allegations of “racial” comments directed toward the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese by either a fan or fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, said a source briefed on the situation, who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

There's an image that still circulates in the sports world today: Kobe and Gianna sitting courtside at a 2019 game featuring his Los Angeles Lakers. He wore a bright orange pullover with a white WNBA logo on the front. Gianna sat beaming at his side. ''I think a lot of people started to follow behind Kobe because he recognized our gift and our talent and how special it really is," said former Chicago Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, the current coach of Unrivaled's Vinyl BC. "And his daughter was right there as well.''
With the WNBA entering a transition period with three new teams, a $2.2 billion media rights deal and a restructured collective bargaining agreement on the horizon, the Washington Mystics have hired the leadership to take the franchise into its next era. Monumental Basketball President Michael Winger tabbed NBA senior vice president and head of player development Jamila Wideman as general manager and former Chicago Sky assistant Sydney Johnson as coach. “Where we are as a league and what we also forecast the next 10 to 15 years of the ‘W’ will look like played a humongous role in the selection of Jamila and Sydney,” Winger said. “If we thought the league was going to be status quo for the next 10 years, we wouldn’t have pursued the visionaries that Jamila and Sydney are.”
Rodman said she’s trying to accept the reality of her relationship with her father. But she’s still angry. She still resents his absence. And it’s difficult to exist in a sports entertainment environment that clamors for her father. When Chicago Sky star Angel Reese arrived to a rivalry game against the Indiana Fever in Dennis’ Detroit Pistons jersey this summer, the small gesture dredged up complicated emotions. “He is a really famous basketball player,” Rodman said on the podcast. “And like style-wise, everything, inspiring. But I think as a daughter seeing that, it’s like — no shade, but it’s like, damn, I wish that was me. I was like, damn, I wish I was taking a picture with him. I wish I was wearing his jersey.”

Shams Charania: Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has agreed to a multiyear endorsement contract extension with Reebok – with a signature shoe release in 2026, ESPN has learned. Reese set the rookie record for rebounds in a single season while averaging the most rebounds (13.1) in WNBA history.
Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese, the league leader in rebounds, will miss the remainder of the WNBA season with a wrist injury, the team announced Saturday. It was after undergoing a medical evaluation following Friday’s game that Reese was ruled out for the rest of the season, according to the team. “I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season-ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next,” Reese said on social media Saturday.

Is the Chi-Town Barbie off the market? Chicago Sky star Angel Reese and Detroit Pistons player Jalen Duren have sparked dating rumors after they shared videos from a similar vacation spot. On Tuesday, Duren, 20, posted a video of the sunset from an unknown location on his Instagram Stories. The background for the clip appeared to be similar to where Reese, 22, had posted a picture on her Instagram Stories of her laying out in a pink Gucci monokini and pink Chanel shades the day before.
