The sports documentary space is robust, but it ain’t easy. I’m hearing that “Starting 5” is getting benched after a two-season run on Netflix. The NBA-focused effort tracked five players over the course of the season, and even with a fortuitous ending with two of its characters reaching the seven-game NBA Finals (Tyrese Haliburton and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander), the audience just wasn’t there to keep the show going. Kevin Durant, James Harden and Jaylen Brown were also featured in Season 2, while LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards and Jayson Tatum were featured in Season 1. Omaha Productions, James’ SpringHill Co. and Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground were executive producers on the show.

Curry and Obama on Wednesday announced the launch of Plezi Hydration, through Obama’s public benefit company, Plezi Nutrition. The drink adds to Curry’s growing portfolio of off-court ventures as the 37-year-old nears the final years of his playing career.

Curry, who plays for the Golden State Warriors, who said last month that he supported Harris, closed by saying, “The Oval Office would suit her well. In the words of Michelle Obama, do something. Go vote.”

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr wasn’t the only member of his organization who appealed to the 2024 Democratic National Convention this week. Warriors superstar Steph Curry made a virtual appearance on Thursday to show his support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the upcoming presidential election for the DNCs final night, sporting his 2024 Paris Olympic gold medal in the video. Curry compared the unity that it took for Team USA basketball to bring home the gold to the unity he feels Harris will bring to the country. “This is about preserving hope and belief in our country,” Curry said in his remarks supporting Harris’ candidacy for president. “In the words of Michelle Obama, do something! Go vote. Be active. Let’s show out in November like never before.”

Curry prioritizes uplifting communities by fostering equity and creating access to opportunity. As a co-chair of former First Lady Michelle Obama’s “When We All Vote” initiative, Curry uses his platform to drive voter registration, education and turnout, most recently during the 2022 election season. His role encouraged millions of new voters to participate in the political process and make their voices heard through civic engagement.
Michelle Obama’s voter registration and engagement initiative is making a push to get Black voters to the polls for this November’s midterm elections. The former first lady and Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul teamed up for a video released Friday — timed to coincide with National Black Voter Day, which was launched in 2020 by BET and the National Urban League — encouraging Black voters to get registered and head to the ballot boxes.

A voter initiative led by Michelle Obama is partnering with a similar group founded by NBA star LeBron James and other prominent Black athletes and entertainers to sponsor events in major U.S. cities starting next week to generate excitement about voting early for the Nov. 3 election. Obama's When We All Vote and James' More Than A Vote are teaming to provide information, transportation, food, music, personal protective equipment and other support at early voting sites around the country Oct. 18-31.
With one month to go before the election, the Milwaukee Bucks partnered with Michelle Obama’s nonpartisan organization When We All Vote on Saturday to register voters and distribute groceries. “We know that voter registration is down because there aren’t a lot of in-person events,” organizer Jordan Brooks said. “We also know that people need food and need supplies right now.”
