The NCAA banned three Division I college basketball players by permanently revoking their eligibility on Wednesday, saying they had bet on their own games at Fresno State and San Jose State and were able to share thousands of dollars in payouts.

Al Scott: Former @FresnoStateMBB player and 8-year NBA vet Tyler Johnson officially returns to Fresno State as an assistant coach. "I am excited to have the opportunity to come back to the Valley," Johnson said. "I am looking forward to being a part of the transformation of this program."
Orlando Robinson said Sunday the move to a standard deal was meaningful after going undrafted out of Fresno State last year and then splitting last season between the G League and his Heat two-way contract. “It was very surreal,” the 6-foot-10 center said of being notified of being moved to a standard contract, which is twice the salary of a two-way contract. “I mean I was just in my room watching Kevin Garnett highlights and then my agent called me and told me about the news. “I was just like in shock, because I didn’t expect that news right now, or anytime soon.”

But even while extending his shooting range to .352 accuracy on 3-pointers as a senior, he failed to become the first player from Fresno State to be drafted since Paul George in 2010. “There was definitely a disappointment,” Robinson said. “I felt that I was in a good spot to get drafted. Unfortunately, that’s not how the cards were dealt.”

“I was always capable of playing off the ball,” Robinson said. “But at Fresno State I was predominantly the main guy. So anywhere for me, setting good screens, to rolling to the basket and that kind of stuff, the adjustment has been really easy. “My versatility, I would say, is my ability to adjust to any given situation.”

Who falls in that range exactly involves more guesswork than most parts of the draft. Multiple people with knowledge of the Lakers’ draft workouts said they thought the last session on Tuesday – with Cole Swider, Fresno State’s Orlando Robinson and Houston’s Kyler Edwards among the standouts – was the best of the team’s eight publicly reported workouts. Some of the higher-rated prospects by various evaluators and media outlets who have passed through include Colorado’s Jabari Walker (son of former Laker Samaki Walker), Louisiana Tech’s Kenneth Lofton Jr., Purdue’s Trevion Williams and Gran Canaria’s Khalifa Diop.

Dave McMenamin: The Lakers’ draft workout group today includes Shareef O’Neal (Shaq’s son), Syracuse’s Cole Swider (back for a second workout), as well as Jordan Hall (St. Joe’s), Orlando Robinson (Fresno State), Kyler Edwards (Houston) and Isaiah Whaley (UConn)

Adrian Wojnarowski: Fresno State 7-footer Orlando Robinson will stay in the 2022 NBA Draft and hire an agent, sources tell ESPN. He averaged 19 points and 8 rebounds as a junior. Robinson is in Chicago for the Draft Combine this week.

Fresno State’s big man Orlando Robinson has declared for the NBA Draft. However, the sophomore forward will not hire an agent, which means he keeps his eligibility if he does decide to return for his junior campaign.
Jeff Goodman: Fresno State freshman Niven Hart has decided to stay in the NBA draft and will turn pro, coach Justin Hutson told @Stadium.
