Matt Barnes: Y’all don’t really know. We used to take real chances smoking. ‘Cause when I first came in the league, it was one preseason test and you were good. Then mid-2000s they started the four random tests, which was [__], but we were still smoking. That meant any given day you could have a pee test. I used to pay my trainer to give me a heads up—like, ‘Yo bro, let me know who’s on the list.’ At first the league would give names, but they found out we was too smart. So they just said, ‘Hey, heads up, we’re testing your team today.’ They’d test four or five guys. So every time I got the call, I had to prepare like I was the one getting tested. Nasty-ass drinks, all that water—it was horrible.
Matt Barnes: "Smoking weed was a real job if you were smoking in the League. We had to get the towels...some people like to turn the shower on. It gets too hot in there, but I always had the candles, the incense. I brought the plug-in Glades too, so my stuff was smelling nice. I’m a sophisticated smoker. It was a real job, and then on top of that, we’re taking these drinks to try to flush our systems."
Former NBA star Matt Barnes admitted that he smoked marijuana prior to an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. Barnes and his co-host, fellow former NBAer Stephen Jackson, conducted a roughly 45 minute interview with Harris on their 'All the Smoke' podcast. Speaking on The Dan Le Batard Show after his interview with the Democratic Party presidential nominee, Barnes admitted that he 'pre-gamed' his discussion with Harris and did not bring any drugs to the White House. 'I did not, unfortunately, get to smoke in the White House,' Barnes said. 'But if she wins, I was invited back and I may have to sneak something in... nah I'm playing.

Cannabis has been a part of the former NBA All-Star’s life for a long time. “I was always into the benefits and the science and education of cannabis,” says Anthony. “Over the years, I was studying it, paying attention to the industry, seeing where it was going, the trajectory, taking in the feedback. Given all the research, why not do it? Talk about the benefits of cannabis, what to consume, how to consume.”

The basketball player and philanthropist began utilizing cannabis in recovery for sports. He recalls using tinctures, CBD, and topicals, trying to figure out what was the right product for healing and soreness. “As I started getting out of the NBA, I started studying and realized how important it is to understand all of the cannabinoids in the plant, as well. What is the cannabinoid, how does it affect the body? I dove into ways we could create this flower, let’s create seeds that are really effective. “
