SI: So when did the dream of playing die? Ishbia: I still had that dream early in college. I was the third string point guard behind Mateen Cleaves and Charlie Bell. But I realized then that once I was seeing what level these guys were at that I was like, ‘I'm not going to make it in the NBA, but I'm going to try to be the best player I can to be at Michigan State.’ But I worked like I was still going to make it the whole time. And I always felt like the hardest working guy and the worst player on that team. I had to work extremely hard just to maintain the third-string point guard spot.

Charlie Bell may be retired from professional basketball but he's still connected to the game. The Texas Legends of the NBA D-League recently announced that the former Michigan State star and NBA veteran has been hired as an assistant coach. The Legends are the minor league affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. Bell, 37, earned the job through the NBA's Assistant Coaches Program (ACP). More than 150 former NBA players have participated in the program since 1988. He will be working under head coach Bob MacKinnon. "I want to help guys get better. I love the game of basketball," Bell said. "I've been playing it all my life so I know quite a bit about the game of basketball so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to get my foot into the coaching door."
BWB Africa, which will be supported by the Angolan Basketball Federation (Federaçao Angolana de Basquetebol) and the Angola Ministry of Youth and Sports, will bring together the top male and female players born in 1999 from across Africa to learn directly from NBA and FIBA players, legends and coaches, including Bismack Biyombo (Orlando Magic; Democratic Republic of the Congo), Eric Bledsoe (Phoenix Suns; U.S.), Luc Mbah a Moute (LA Clippers; Cameroon; BWB Africa 2003), Salah Mejri (Dallas Mavericks; Tunisia), Thabo Sefolosha (Atlanta Hawks; Switzerland), and Cody Zeller (Charlotte Hornets; U.S.). The NBA players will be joined by NBA Global Ambassador and Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo (Democratic Republic of the Congo); former NBA players Charlie Bell (U.S.), Jason Collins (U.S.), Olumide Oyedeji (Nigeria); and former WNBA players Astou Ndiaye-Diatta (Senegal) and Jenn Lacy (U.S.).

This year’s camp will once again provide young players from across the continent with the tools to succeed on the court and in life.”

When it comes to free agency, Durant said he will lean most on his Roc Nation agent Rich Kleiman and personal manager Charlie Bell. Regarding Jay Z, Durant told Yahoo Sports: “He’s just the big homey. That’s how it is. I got two people I talk to and figure it out with every day. They give support.”
Kids: Charlie has to shell out $1,000/month in child support, but they'll share custody of their two daughters. Neither party has to cough up spousal support. Homes: Kenya scored the marital home in Michigan, along with the home bought for her parents. Charlie gets the condo in Vegas and the home he bought his parents. Money: Kenya was awarded $780,000 cash from Charlie's savings ... leaving him with $656,000. She also gets half of the $670,000 from another account. Here's where Kenya wins big: she gets HALF OF EVERYTHING from the following: Charlie's NBA 401k plan, his NBA retirement plan, his NBA pension, NBA welfare plan and NBA supplement benefit plan.
The estranged husband of "Basketball Wives" star Kenya Bell insists ... he supported her for YEARS with his NBA salary -- but now his cash supply is running low ... and it's her turn to keep him financially afloat. Former NBA player Charlie Bell -- who filed for divorce from Kenya earlier this year -- filed legal docs, claiming he's been low on cash ever since the NBA dropped him last year. Charlie's been playing pro ball internationally ever since, but the money's just not the same -- not nearly.
