Huge boost for the Germany senior national team heading to the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. Dennis Schroder is traveling separately to Stockholm hoping to receive medical clearance and represent his country against Sweden tomorrow, Thursday. The captain of Germany was slated as doubtful to even make the trip with an ankle injury but is on his way, as noted by the German Basketball Federation Wednesday.
While there, he happened to give an exclusive interview to Swedish outlet Aftonbladet, a daily newspaper based in Stockholm. Of course, he was asked about his future with the Milwaukee Bucks, and had this to say (hat tip to Swedish journalist Alexander Nilsson): Giannis: "There are a lot of rumors. Everyone has opinions. But at the end of the day, I will do what is best for my family. I do not see why I could not be in Milwaukee for several years. As long as Milwaukee and I are on the same page when it comes to being one of the best teams in the league and winning championships, that's fine. When it changes, it will not be good. It's easy, I want to be a winner. I do not care about the money. My family is fine and I can take care of my children and grandchildren so that's not the most important thing right now, it's winning. As long as we can win and create a winning culture, it will be good."

Gasol and Reyes were both just 23 when these two Goliaths last squared off for the European title, 12 years ago, with a 36-point blast from the now-Chicago Bulls forward not enough to deny their Baltic rivals a 93-84 victory in the final in Stockholm. "That team was very talented," Gasol recalls. "They escaped from us. And they beat us soundly." Fernandez, later to have a stint in the NBA with Portland before returning to Real Madrid, had yet to break through. But other stars-in-the-making announced themselves to the world. Jose Calderon. Juan Carlos Navarro. Jorge Garbajosa. "La Generacion de Oro." The Golden Kids.
The FIBA Europe Board which convened in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, this weekend discussed the new calendar proposal brought forward by the world governing body, FIBA. The Board of FIBA Europe decided that the part of the proposal eliminating the two-year cycle of the EuroBasket is against the interests of its member Federations. In 2010, FIBA Europe increased the number of the teams participating in the EuroBasket finals to 24, while as of 2015 the EuroBasket Women will also be played with 20 teams.
