Jaylen Brown: I feel like people haven’t seen me at my best because we have a loaded roster. So sometimes you gotta do what needs to be done as a team.
Yet, while Celtics fans celebrated every half-court attempt, it would appear members of the Mavericks roster were growing frustrated. During a recent livestream with Jaylen Brown, former Celtics guard Kyrie Irving revealed that he’d considered throwing a punch at Pritchard during that series. “We were going to halftime,” Irving said. “I ain’t gonna lie to you, I thought about swinging. One time, just to see where he was at. I thought about swinging one time.”
Jake Fischer: I think all along there was never really a plan to move Jaylen or Derrick. So I don't think anything got close, and I don’t think they were really willing to move those guys either. Like, you would have had to make a trade—Desmond Bane, Mikal Bridges–type of offer—for Derrick White. And honestly, for Jaylen—as great as he is—I think a lot of teams look at his salary number and go: “Why would you be paying what Boston values him at, for that contract?” So his deal isn’t universally viewed as an incredible addition if you were to trade for him.
Kyrie Irving on Kobe Bryant: He had also a history already built in on his foundation of being Jelly Bean’s son. Yeah. You know, so his father already had history in the league and that helps. That's one of like being son of an NBA player and being able to be around the environment and early on, you know. Jaylen Brown: That's one of my biggest regrets in life, never got to meet Kobe. He did a detail on me in like 2018. Kyrie Irving: Did it surprised you that he did it? Jaylen Brown: It did. I was so hyped. I was so hyped.

Paul Pierce on Celtics: As long as you got Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, you can figure out the other pieces because they still relatively young. I mean JB will be 29 coming up I believe. And Tatum 27 next year. Uh so they still got a lot. And then the way y'all playing look at KD is 30 is 37. Still playing high level. Steph 37, Bron 40. You know, even yourself in your 30s, y'all still play at a high level. So, they are in their prime. So, you can say for the next six years, let's see what's up with these two.
Paul Pierce: You're in the business of making money. Yeah, you want to win, but you want a cheaper version to try to win. And I get what they’re trying to do—stay competitive. But I still think their window is open. I hope they don’t trade JB though. As long as you’ve got Tatum and Brown, you can figure out the other pieces. They're still relatively young. I mean, JB will be 29 coming up, and Tatum 27 next year. So they still got a long way. And the way y’all playing—look at KD, he’s 37 and still playing at a high level. Steph, 37. LeBron, 40. Even yourself, in your 30s, y’all still played at a high level. So they’re in their prime. For the next six years, let’s see what’s up with these two.
There are some obvious potential fits for Brown around the league (Houston, San Antonio) but Zach Lowe of the Ringer hinted at a surprising new suitor on his podcast Saturday. “I get the sense there was real smoke, there was something going on,” Lowe said of Brown trade rumors over the past week. “That something maybe has subsided. I said last week that I would bet on (White and Brown) being on the Celtics next year but I’m not slamming the door shut on some team — the Kings come to mind — being like, we’ll offer you everything, all the swaps, all the picks, whatever you want for Jaylen Brown and at least making the Celtics think about it. I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think they will both be on the team next year but they instantly could become the main characters of free agency.”
Speaking of the Knicks: Sources say Boston told at least one rival team that it would have insisted on a "Mikal Bridges-type" package to part with Derrick White, league sources say. The Celtics have certainly received no shortage of inbound trade calls on both White and Jaylen Brown in recent days, but nothing got serious on either front.

Jared Weiss: Boston Celtics assistant GM Mike Zarren on the Jaylen Brown and Derrick White trade rumors: “Those two guys are really, really great players and there hasn’t been anything close to seriously trading them. Im not sure where all that reporting came from.”
“The biggest challenge for our team is our first-team All-NBA player is in a boot,” Stevens said. “We know that going into next year. Everything else is second to that on how we build, grow, and improve as much as we can. I said when I sat down in front of everybody a few weeks ago, my goal is to compete for championships. There will be inevitably a lot that goes into being in the mix for those. “We have to prioritize the health of those two guys [Tatum and Jaylen Brown] and at the same time make sure we’re regaining some of our flexibility.”
Ian Begley: Celtics touched base today with teams, including San Antonio (No. 14), on deals that would land a lottery pick in tonight’s draft. (Obviously San Antonio is not moving its No. 2 overall pick). As others have reported, BOS has been getting offers for Sam Hauser and listening to offers for Jaylen Brown and Derrick White.
