After losing a friendly wager over the NBA finals, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) gave Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a basket of chocolates and wine. Current Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was waiting outside the Warriors locker room postgame, greeting all the players as they exited the arena. There’s no invitation yet for a visit with President Trump, but the Warriors have a standing offer from House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco and East Bay Rep. Barbara Lee to come to the U.S. Capitol to celebrate their NBA championship. There’s been much speculation about whether the team would accept an invitation from the White House. In the meantime, Pelosi and Lee said Tuesday that the Warriors and their families would be welcome on Capitol Hill, describing the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue as “the heart of our democracy.” “In celebration of your victory, we would be delighted to welcome you publicly as a team or personally as families to the United States Capitol,” Pelosi and Lee wrote to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and the team. “Please consider this as a blanket invitation whenever your individual schedules allow.”
