Dennis “DJ” Rodman Jr., whose sister, Trinity Rodman, plays for the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League and won a gold medal with Team USA in the 2024 Paris Games, played at Washington State from 2019 to 2023, averaging 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds in his final season. Following the 2022-23 season, Rodman transferred to USC, where he joined a roster headlined by No. 1 high school prospect Isaiah Collier and Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James. The Trojans were ranked No. 21 in the preseason AP Top 25 poll, and the program became a media circus due to the presence of the younger James. “We were probably one of the most hyped teams in college basketball,” Rodman said.
Trinity Rodman, 19, the daughter of NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman, is the highest-paid player in league history. The 2021 Rookie of the Year received a contract extension with the Washington Spirit. Her new extension includes a four-year deal for $1.1 million, currently more than what she was earning under her prior agreement — a three-year contract with a net pay of $42,000 to play in the National Women’s Soccer League.
The National Women's Soccer League's 2021 Rookie of the Year, 19-year-old Trinity Rodman, will become the highest-paid player in league history after she signed a contract extension with Washington Spirit on Wednesday, the club announced. The four-year deal is reported to be worth $1.1 million, according to Sportico. Washington State forward Trinity Rodman, daughter of Bulls legend Dennis Rodman, has registered for Wednesday's NWSL Draft. She is one of 50 prospects to do so. It's the culmination of a stellar youth career for Rodman, who has made waves on every level she has played. She entered Washington State the No. 1 recruit in the nation in 2020, and notably led Team USA to a CONCAF Women's Under-20 championship last March, notching two goals in the title game.
Washington State University and U.S. youth national team attacker Trinity Rodman has been attracting the attention of scouts for a long time. During her time with So Cal Blues, Rodman was a dominant player on one of the most dominant youth club teams in the country, pegged by some outlets as the number one forward recruit in the U.S. But early on, there was one notable talent evaluator who saw something special in Rodman. At age eight, after an AYSO game, she was approached by LA Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who had been there to watch his daughter Natalia.
Trinity Rodman, though, is used to this. And over the years, she has forged her own path. “I mean, I think it’s cool,” said Rodman. “My dad obviously was an awesome athlete and it’s cool to have it as ‘Dennis Rodman’s daughter.’ But at the same time, I do know that everybody sees me as Trinity Rodman and not just Dennis Rodman’s daughter, so it doesn’t really bother me, it’s just like — whatever. In a way I’m glad that they put it like that, though, because my dad can look at that and be like ‘wow, look at her go.’”
