A request has been filed against a member of the Montenegrin Army, Boris Dragaš (45) from Pljevlja, to initiate misdemeanor proceedings under the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse. The Police Directorate, under its initials, announced that BD was driving an armored BMW X5 owned by NP, who they said was a high-ranking member of an organized crime group from northern Montenegro. "Vijesti" has been confirmed by several sources that this is the famous basketball player Nikola Peković and that, according to police records, he is a member of the Šarić brothers' criminal group. According to the same information, there were two other people in that car, one of whom was an employee of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Pekovic, 39, has been identified as a member of the Saric brothers’ criminal group. It remains unclear whether his latest connection to the organization will result in any further actions. Items recovered by the police during the search of the vehicle included illegally possessed firearms and more military technology, marijuana, and opiate pills, per a press release. Playing days of the Montenegrin center featured 271 NBA games with the Minnesota Timberwolves between 2010 and 2016. From 2005 to 2011, he also made his way to 98 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games, including a championship campaign with Panathinaikos in 2009. Following a decorated junior career with Serbia and Montenegro, his jump to the senior level was highlighted by representing Montenegro in the EuroBasket 2011.

Former EuroLeague champion Nikola Pekovic is hospitalized in serious condition after being infected with coronavirus according to Serbian website Telegraf. Telegraf reports that Pekovic, currently the team manager of the Montenegrin national team, has inflammation of both of his lungs and is breathing with the help of a respirator. He was admitted to a hospital in Podgorica, Montenegro 15 days ago with COVID-19 symptoms and his condition deteriorated over that period.
Pekovic’s family later said that his condition isn’t as serious as presented in the Telegraf story. “He’s in stable condition” and “breathing independently” without a respirator, they told Serbian Blic while adding that the former player has been in the Podgorica hospital “since yesterday.”

Here’s what LaVine and ESPN’s Zach Lowe said on Pekovic, on the “Lowe Post” podcast: Lowe: Pek was scary. Pek was legit scary. LaVine: I came to the locker room one time and Pek was boxing. Full sweat boxing at a punching bag.
LaVine: Coming out of college, I was number 14. I wanted to have that in the NBA. He had it. I didn’t even feel like asking. Lowe: Is that true? LaVine: Realistically yeah. When I got traded here, Robin Lopez had 8. So I asked him for it. He’s a big guy but he’s really friendly. I wasn’t even gonna ask Pekovic for the number. I was terrified of him.
The Spanish star also revealed how his teammate reacted to Nuggets‘ elimination after a rather impressive run in the season. “In the game that left us out of the playoffs, he finished with almost 20 rebounds. After the end, he started crying in the dressing room blaming himself for the elimination and that’s hard. These things show how much he loves basketball and that the best is all yet to come. He is, possibly, the best talent I have seen in my life”, Juancho told the Spanish media.
