As much as family and friends tried to help Walsh, nobody had quite the perspective of the only man to have played at the top level of basketball with Alopecia. Villanueva was known for helping kids with the condition, so maybe there was a chance they could connect. It just so happened that Walsh’s uncle knew Ramon Sessions, who Villanueva took under his wing when he was a rookie with the Bucks years ago. Sessions called his friend and mentor and told him about this kid in Dallas who plays ball, but needed the kind of guidance only Villanueva could provide. “(Walsh) was struggling with Alopecia and the parents were looking for answers,” Villanueva said. “Lo and behold, I was 30 minutes away.”
Ramon Sessions was one of the best draft selections in the history of the Milwaukee Bucks. Sessions was the 56th pick in the 2007 draft and went on to have a productive 11-year NBA career. After his playing days, Sessions worked in the front office for the New Orleans Pelicans and is now a licensed sports agent. In this year’s draft, he repping Jordan Walsh, a McDonald’s All-American who played last season at Arkansas. Walsh is projected to be a late-first to early-second round pick in the June draft, if he opts to remain in the draft.

Ramon Sessions admits the notion of his NBA career ending has crept into his mind in recent years. “When it ends, it ends,” the Myrtle Beach native said of his mental preparedness for that day. Yet, despite coming off his first full year out of the NBA in the last 12 years, Sessions said that time has yet to come.
“Being out for a year, I’m a free agent obviously. The summertime is coming up and my agent is working on some stuff. And I’m staying in shape working out to see what will happen. You never know what can happen,” Ramon Sessions said Tuesday during his 12th annual youth basketball camp at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center. “There’s a lot of guys that took a year off and came back and started the next season. I’m not saying that will happen to me, but you never know. I’m staying ready. I’m not officially retired from the NBA yet.”
Due to personal reasons, Ramon Sessions asked to be released from his contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv so he could return to the USA immediately and his request has been granted, the club announced. Maccabi and Sessions had a three-month deal signed on November 3 with an option for the remainder of the season. The 32-year-old NBA veteran played two games in EuroLeague with Maccabi this season and scored 18 points in total.
Ramon Sessions said he could get out of his contract if an NBA team came calling, but said that he plans to play the full three months — if not for longer. The three-month deal ends in February, a time when some NBA teams will be looking for veteran help for their playoff push. “Obviously my goal is to get back in the NBA and that’s kind of the time when teams start picking up veteran guys — the second half of the season, right before the trade deadline,” Sessions said. “There’s a lot of things with it that works in my favor.”
Sessions said he wakes up to the beach every day as that’s where he lives over there. There’s also a big-city feel to Tel Aviv, he says, something he’s accustomed to living in Atlanta and having played in many other U.S. big cities while in the NBA. “If you didn’t look up and see the signs in Hebrew and all this and that, you wouldn’t know if you were in New York City or Atlanta,” said Sessions.

Maccabi Tel Aviv announced the signing of NBA veteran Ramon Sessions to a 3-month deal that includes an option for the remainder of the season. The American guard will thus continue in Europe, where he’ll play for the first time in his career.
Sessions, 32, arrives in Maccabi essentially as a replacement for injured guard Jeremy Pargo who has been ruled out for two months with a back injury. Maccabi, that is currently 1-4 in EuroLeague, adding another former NBAer this season after Tarik Black and Johnny O’ Bryant.
