Dave McMenamin: 5-time NBA champ Derek Fisher will call tonight's game between two of his former teams -- LAL and OKC -- on Spectrum SportsNet, alongside PxP man Bill Macdonald. Longtime Lakers color analyst Stu Lantz is not on the trip as he recovers from a medical procedure, the Lakers say.

Lakers Daily: Derek Fisher praises LeBron's sacrifice: "The one person that has scored the most points in the history of NBA basketball literally tried not to score a point in the 1st quarter. ... It's all about the team. He did what he needed to do tonight to make sure the team got a win."

Two-time NBA champion and Hall of Fame guard Isiah Thomas is making his return to NBC Sports as a guest analyst for the next three Monday night editions of “NBA Showtime,” the company said Thursday. Thomas will work alongside host Ahmed Fareed and analyst Derek Fisher in the studio, beginning with Monday’s doubleheader exclusive to Peacock and NBCSN (Hornets-Cavaliers, Grizzlies-Thunder).
The discussion then turned toward the growing trend of NBA players choosing to continue their careers overseas—and why that trend might accelerate in the coming years. “It’s a good question. I do think we’ll see that happening more often in the future,” Fisher noted. “Obviously, the NBA is considered the top basketball in the world. But as the game continues to grow globally, with world-class competition, investment from owners and sponsors, and great facilities, I think you’re going to see more players at younger ages deciding to play in Europe or elsewhere.”

He was surprised to learn that Kendrick Nunn had decided to continue his career in Europe, but ultimately wasn’t shocked by the decision itself. “Actually, I didn’t know that he was continuing his career in Europe, so that’s news to me. So I guess I’m surprised—but not surprised in the sense that if you love basketball, you’re going to show up wherever they ask you to show up. If you can still provide for yourself and your family and enjoy a good life, why not? If you’re a younger guy and not yet settled with kids in school and all that, I think you’re going to see more and more guys start to do it.”
NBA on NBC and Peacock: Six more talented names have joined the NBA on NBC and Peacock! Austin Rivers, Derek Fisher, Brian Scalabrine, Robbie Hummel, and Brad Daugherty join previously announced NBA veterans Jamal Crawford, Reggie Miller, and Grant Hill. Michael Grady joins Mike Tirico, Noah Eagle, and Terry Gannon as NBC Sports’ play-by-play voices for the NBA on NBC & Peacock.
Jermaine O'Neal: "I remember asking some Lakers—Rick Fox, Derek Fisher—where Kobe was when they were out at a bar. They laughed and said, ‘He doesn’t go out. He stays in his room.’ Early in his career, people said he wasn’t a great teammate, but the truth is, his teammates didn’t know him well. That was his makeup—he was always studying, always preparing. It created a perception that he didn’t want to be around the team. And in the NBA, we’re always around each other, so if you don’t see a teammate, it feels like he doesn’t want to be part of the group. But with Kobe, it was just focus—it wasn’t personal."

Keerthika Uthayakumar: Draymond Green won his 18th playoff game against Houston tonight, tying Derek Fisher for the most playoff wins by an opposing player in Rockets postseason history. Look at the starting lineups the first time he & Steph Curry beat the Rockets (May 19, 2015).
