The NBA on Wednesday is looking into what Sacramento Kings sources say was a strategy mistake by coach Doug Christie -- and not intentional tanking tactics -- late in Tuesday's loss to the Golden State Warriors. With the Kings leading by one with 3:15 remaining in the game, Christie called for forward Doug McDermott to foul Seth Curry, despite being in the penalty. The strategy was just a misstep, sources told ESPN, as Christie wanted to use a timeout before he automatically lost it when the clock ticked below 3 minutes. Sources said Christie miscalculated that the Warriors were in the bonus and it would send Curry, an 86.4% career free throw shooter, to the line, despite more appealing options on the floor to foul if opting to hack a player.

The mistake was magnified after the buzzer when Warriors forward Draymond Green, in a long back-and-forth about the NBA's tanking epidemic, insinuated the Kings had done it for the purposes of losing the game. "I saw a team tonight foul Seth Curry with three minutes to go for no reason," Green said. "I get fined when I do wrong. Fine the hell outta people." Green later said organizations need to be fined more often for blatant tanking moves.
Steph and Seth Curry couldn’t believe their dream of playing together on an NBA floor finally came true Sunday night. After a season defined by injuries for both veteran guards, the Curry brothers made their long-awaited debut in the second quarter of the Golden State Warriors’ 117-116 loss to the Houston Rockets, playing together for a minute that was years in the making.“That was special,” Steph said. “We’ve both had a very difficult year. Honestly, him more than me with injuries. I was joking, calling us the Rehab Brothers, because it’s been like that all year. “But to have that moment coming out of a timeout and talking about our matchups, I was having flashbacks to Charlotte Christian High School. My senior year, his sophomore year is the last time (we played) in an actual game. I know he was on our training camp roster in 2013, but the last time we actually played a game together.” There have been 40 brother combinations in NBA history who have played on the same team at the same time, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The Currys were the first to do it for the Warriors.

Dalton Johnson: The Warriors are officially listing both Steph Curry and Seth Curry as questionable for tomorrow’s game vs. the Rockets @nbcswarriors.bsky.social Steph has missed the last 27 games, and the Curry brothers are yet to play together this season

How eager are you and the team to get Stephen Curry back? Seth Curry: I mean, obviously everybody's eager, I mean, we're trying to win games and he helps us do that, obviously, but me, I want to get out there with him one at least one time and experience that and put on a show for the fans. That's what it's all about, entertainment for the fans at the end of the day, so everybody's been wanting to see that see us out there on the court and I know he's that's one of his motivating factors for getting out there to see us out there on the court together, but it's no pressure. If he gets out there and makes it happen, it makes it happen. If not, it's not meant to be, so that's how it is.

Anthony Slater: Al Horford is out another week with his calf strain, per Warriors. Seth Curry and Quinten Post are day-to-day.

Beyond his accomplishments in Charlotte as a player, Dell Curry is a television analyst with the Hornets and Amazon Prime, and he has been an ambassador and special adviser for the franchise. “It means the world because the Hornets’ No. 30, pinstripes, Charlotte and Dell Curry are pretty synonymous in terms of what he did as the original Hornet,” Stephen Curry told Andscape. “Ten years playing there, what he’s done as a broadcaster, in the community and all that. Charlotte is our home. I was there in 2016 and they honored him. And then 10 years later, he was going into rafters. “It’s special for our whole family. We call him the originator. And me and Seth are able to do this because of him. He set the foundation. So, one, to have it happen and, two, to be able to be there and see it in person, I’m so excited.”
Said Seth Curry, Warriors and former Hornets guard, to Andscape: “It’s a big deal. He and the Hornets and the city of Charlotte are kind of synonymous when it comes to basketball. Obviously, with him being the first Hornet, it just represents all he has done for that organization being a part of it for so long. And then obviously, this even makes it even cool that I was actually the last person to wear No. 30 for the Hornets [2024-25 season]. So, it’s huge for that to live up in the rafters forever.”

Anthony Slater: It’s a calf strain for Al Horford and an adductor strain for Seth Curry. Both out against Knicks. Warriors will be depleted to open road trip in NY. Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis and De’Anthony Melton all sitting on front side of back-to-back (at Wizards the next night).

Curry made his return in the Warriors’ 119-116 loss to the Utah Jazz on Monday. Afterwards, he detailed the grueling recovery process to reporters. “I don’t know exactly when [the injury] happened,” Curry explained. “I just popped up one more, I couldn’t move at all. It was like a month’s time where I really couldn’t move; I was just laying at home. “And then just once the pain went away, I was able to rehab and try to get all my movement back, but it’s been tough.”
