The Detroit and Cleveland teams will play at the NBA arenas that currently exist, while Philadelphia is planning on a new building that will be completed hopefully by 2030. "We tell the city it's going to open in 2031. We're hoping for 2030," said Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment Managing Partner and co-founder Josh Harris, who owns the 76ers. "So we're trying to underpromise and overdeliver. But, right now it's 2031, so that we have a year gap, you know. We've got the Xfinity center, the Wells Fargo, they'll play there."
The home of the 76ers and Flyers will have a new name on Sept. 1, when the building becomes Xfinity Mobile Arena following the expiration of Wells Fargo’s naming rights deal. The agreement runs through the 2030-31 season, when both teams are scheduled to move into a new arena that will be built at the South Philly sports complex.
Former team captain and current Heat executive Udonis Haslem on Tuesday teamed with Wells Fargo and Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade to help refurbish a home in Miami Gardens, as part of a national announcement of $1.2 million Wells Fargo grant to Rebuilding Together, benefitting 75 homes in 46 cities.
The home of the Philadelphia Flyers and the 76ers -- well, the Sixers, for now -- will soon need a new name. Banking giant Wells Fargo says it will not renew its naming rights deal with the arena in the South Philadelphia sports complex that has served as home to the city's NHL and NBA teams, most major entertainment touring acts, two political conventions, WrestleMania, lacrosse, college basketball and countless other events. Wells Fargo said Wednesday it will not renew its deal with building owner and operator Comcast Spectacor -- the parent company of the Flyers -- when it expires in August 2025.
Wells Fargo plans to drop its name from the South Philadelphia sports arena, the home of the Flyers and 76ers, after the bank's contract expires in 2025. "Wells Fargo regularly reviews and adjusts our overall sponsorship strategy," a Wells Fargo spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday. "As such, we have made the business decision not to renew the naming rights contract to Wells Fargo Center. We value our relationship with Comcast Spectacor and we look forward to collaborating on live entertainment and sporting events at the Wells Fargo Center through the end of our contract in August 2025."

Experienced? The broker had two decades with blue-chip firms like Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo and Merrill Lynch. Connected? He said he specialized in assisting athletes in all sports, with a client list of 70 current and former pros. But instead of pursuing a “conservative to moderate investment strategy,” the Holidays now allege, the broker, Darryl M. Cohen, steered $2.3 million of their money to “dubious individuals and entities” — and now most of the money is gone.
Once teams select those fans, they will need a webcam and a microphone. They will log onto Microsoft Teams through their computer or phone. And then they will use Microsoft Teams’ new feature, “Together Mode.” That will enable the fans to interact with each other digitally throughout the game while they watch the broadcast feed. With this feature, fans can high five each other, hold out signs or react to anything that happens on the court. The NBA’s video-boards will show those real-time reactions. “They better put some boos in there for us. If we’re not playing hard, we want to hear those boos,” Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons joked. “You can’t put this here and have the fans on the screen and not replicate Sixers fans. We’re one of a kind. They’ll do their best, but it’s nothing like playing at home at Wells Fargo.”

The Philadelphia 76ers will no longer refer to their home arena as The Wells Fargo Center. Instead, the team will either call it The Center or refer to games and events held “at the Sixers’ home arena.” This isn’t a nostalgia driven decision to hearken back to the days of The Boston Garden or The Forum, but a business decision by the front office. Wells Fargo does not have a business relationship with the 76ers. It is not the official financial partner or bank of the Sixers, so essentially any mention about the naming rights partner of the arena itself was free exposure.
The Sixers have every right to not mention Wells Fargo. Essentially the team has given the bank the benefits of being a corporate partner without having a deal in place. This will allow the Sixers to create further revenue with a new banking partner. By dropping any references to Wells when discussing the arena, Philadelphia essentially limits confusion if the team creates a deal with a number of partnership prospects.
In celebration of Black History Month, the Sacramento Kings will honor and recognize local influential African American community leaders throughout the month of February. Presented by Wells Fargo, the Kings “Dream All-Stars” were selected based on their achievements and the inspiration created in the community. Each “Dream All-Stars” recipient will be awarded with a commemorative plaque and an in-game video presentation at the six home games scheduled in February.
