Baskonia is on track to resolve one of its two major problems with just over a week to go before the Super Cup, the opening prelude to the 2026-27 season. As EL CORREO has confirmed, the Vitoria-based club is prepared to pursue the signing of center Alex Len, one of the few available big men in a market that is currently sparse. The 33-year-old, 7-foot Ukrainian center emerged in early September as a top choice for a team in need of adding two centers to its roster, which currently only includes Kenneth Faried after Khalifa Diop's departure to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Len appears to be a solution to address the urgent needs under the basket for a Baskonia team that is well-stocked on the perimeter but has serious deficiencies in the paint. Alex Len aims to bring size, physical presence, and experience to a team in need of a starting center.
The most significant case is Khalifa Diop, who could be in his final hours as a Baskonia player. The Senegalese center, selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 39th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, has traveled to Cleveland with the club’s permission to undergo a medical examination. If he passes the medical, the Cavaliers will decide whether to add him to their roster for the 2026-27 season. The move is not official yet, but Baskonia is already preparing for the possibility of his departure. Diop remains under contract, meaning a move to the NBA would require financial compensation for the Spanish club. His departure would leave Paolo Galbiati without one of his key frontcourt players and force Baskonia to accelerate its search for two additional big men following the arrival of Kenneth Faried.
Kosner Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz have officially signed veteran big man Kenneth Faried for the 2026-27 season, adding one of the most experienced players on the European market to their frontcourt.

Panathinaikos announced on Tuesday that they have officially ended their cooperation with Kenneth Faried, who played for the club last season. Faried joined Panathinaikos at the start of the season when Ergin Ataman’s team had many problems in the center position. Right from the start, he was more than impressive, being named EuroLeague’s MVP for the month of November.

Faried had a front-row seat for Jokic's early NBA development, watching him grow from a rookie into a franchise cornerstone and three-time MVP. And even back then, the American big man knew Jokic was different. "I knew he was going to be special because of the work he put in. The stuff that we don't record, the things that you don't see," Faried noted. "The little stuff – he cares about the game, even though people think he cares just about his horses. No, he actually puts the work in to care about the game.
"And you see that every day at practice, and I got a chance to see that – him working on his game, his craft, his shooting, his passing," Faried added. "Well, he already could pass, but he was just working on little things in order to better himself. And he had the right mentors around him, the right people around him, so that helped him to be the player he is today. "I was happy to see the development, and I thought he was going to be an All-Star for sure," he admitted. "But MVPs, superstars, and a championship? I thought a championship would come, but I didn't think it would come off of him getting MVPs and all that other stuff."
Panathinaikos Aktor Athens have decided to retain Omer Yurtseven and Kenneth Faried through the end of the current season, head coach Ergin Ataman confirmed on the eve of the Greek Derby against Olympiacos Piraeus.
Kenneth Faried landed in Athens to complete his move to Panathinaikos Aktor. Following a Eurohoops report regarding a deal between the Manimal and the Greens, head coach Ergin Ataman confirmed his transfer on Saturday. On Sunday, the former NBA player and FIBA World Cup 2014 gold medalist with the United States arrived in the Greek capital.
Kenneth Faried is the big man who will help cover the absences of Panathinaikos in the front line. Per Eurohoops sources, Faried is finalizing a deal with the Greens until the end of the season, and the Greek club has already bought out his contract with TSG GhostHawks from Taiwan. The “Manimal” returns to Europe after playing last season in Reggio Emilia and in the past for CSKA Moscow.
