Mark Cuban: Lawrence Frank has been through it forever. If Steve Ballmer did tell Lawrence and the assistant GMs, they're toast too, their careers are toast. Absolute toast. And there's a 99% chance that at some point it comes out, you know, as they try to protect their career. That's one. Two, the agent is going to be in deep sh*t as well, if it ever comes out. And the agent has got to be involved at some level. And so the agent, I don't know if what other clients they have, if any, but they're too. And so you've got a multi-billion dollar franchise at risk. You've got the general manage manager's job. You've got um the agent's job. You've got Uncle Dennis who has no leverage whatsoever.

Tyronn Lue on Kawhi Leonard playing back-to-backs: He wants to play them, but a lot of times, we're not letting him

Tyronn Lue on Kawhi Leonard: I feel sorry for him, you know? Because all the work he puts in—we see it every day. And just what it takes to get on the floor on a consistent basis—it takes a lot for him to get out there. And so it's not like he's wanting to sit out and miss games. Like, he puts the work in every single day. And the grind that he has to do to even get on the floor to play—it's just tough, you know? So when he tries to push through that threshold himself, he gets himself in trouble. So a lot of times, it's coming from us. It's coming from Lawrence Frank, the medical staff. We’ve got to protect him from himself. Because, you know, sometimes he wants to play back-to-backs. So even though he wants to do it, sometimes you’ve got to protect him from himself. And it’s just tough, because he’s not a guy that wants to sit out. Not wanting to play. His whole mindset is to win championships—and that’s what he wants to do. And like you said, sometimes it’s just unfortunate. Some bad luck. That things happen. But it’s not like he doesn’t want to work, or he doesn’t want to play. That’s definitely not true.”

Two of the Phoenix Suns‘ limited partners are demanding that Mat Ishbia’s “ISH Suns” LLC, the controlling stakeholder of Suns Legacy Holdings LLC, buys them out as the franchise’s valuation approaches an estimated $7 billion. In a letter obtained by PHNX Sports, the attorneys for ISH Suns LLC rebuked demands from Kisco WC Sports II, LLC and Kent Circle Investments, LLC for ISH Suns to purchase their limited (non-controlling) interest in the team for $825 million, based on the enterprise being valued in excess of $6 billion — a 60 percent increase from the franchise’s value when Ishbia’s LLC first acquired a controlling interest.

Law Murray: Lawrence Frank: "There were kind of two scenarios where we'd even consider trading Norm. And they weren't tied directly to Brad" Said LAC would have considered trading Powell for "two high-level players" or to get a player on "carry forward contracts that were younger"

Lawrence Frank on Chris Paul: He is joining Clippers as a reserve point guard

The LA Clippers have signed guard Chris Paul, it was announced by President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank.  “Chris is one of the most impactful players ever to wear a Clippers uniform and it’s appropriate that he returns to the team for this chapter of his career,” said Frank. “Chris will help fortify our backcourt with his exceptional ballhandling, playmaking and shooting. He is joining us as a reserve point guard and is excited to fill whatever role T Lue asks him to play. He wants to be part of the group and we’re fortunate to have him back.”

"Not to take any sort of slight at Phoenix, but playing with James is a whole lot different than what their situation was," Frank said. "Obviously, Brad had great success playing with John Wall [in Washington]. He actually had great success playing with Russ [Westbrook in Washington]. So, we can look at those situations. "I think some of the areas that, especially in his Washington days, that he was able to explore with not the same level of talent [there], I think we'll be able to get a little bit more out of [here]. Like with his pick-and-roll play, it's different when you have the guys that we have spacing the floor and the centers that we have that he will be playing with. Whether it's [Ivica Zubac], whether it's Brook, whether it's John Collins, and you have that nice balance of defense and offense on the floor."

This past week I received a collection of answers when inquiring about this with sources familiar with the thinking of both Lawrence Frank and Ty Lue. To summarize, four major themes emerged on why the Clippers believe Paul holds real on-court value despite what looks to be a crowded rotation: 1. James Harden preservation 2. Second unit creation 3. Lineup optionality 4. Overall insurance
